Educate Yourself About Asthma
Extensive research has been conducted and revealed about the cures and preventions of this fatal disease.
Asthma is a respiratory problem is curable to certain extend yet it is often ignored by patients by not monitoring it regularly. This disease should be monitored regularly in order to keep it in control. Today there is a simple technique for monitoring it, a simple device called peak flow meter. You have to breathe out from the mouth holding the peak flow meter between the lips. The readings are captured thrice to confirm your level of respiratory problem.
This disease is also known as breathing problem as it is related to the process of breathing to provide enough oxygen to the body. This oxygen is essential for day-to-day working and to remove the carbon-dioxide. When you breath air, it passes through the nostrils and goes into the windpipe. It then goes to the smaller breathing tubes, which divide like branches of a tree. At their ends, there are lac’s of tiny air sacs whereby the exchange of gases takes place here.
In asthmatics, these breathing tubes are very sensitive and irritable. They over react to substances such as dust, fume, perfume, etc. This results in narrowing of the breathing tubes. It occurs because firstly the muscles in the walls of the breathing tubes contract, secondly the lining of the breathing tubes swells up and lastly the increased secretions from the swollen tubes block the lumen.
With the tubes so narrowed, it becomes difficult for air to move in and out which results in coughing, tightness in the chest, wheezing and whistling noises and shortness of breath. Asthma is often worse in the night and early in the morning.
However, treatment of this condition is curable with medicines. More to say, advanced medicines like inhalers and nasal sprays are the most effective remedies for asthma.
