Know What Causes Asthma Bronchitis

Acute bronchitis if not controlled and treated properly may result to chronic or asthma bronchitis.

This condition is associated to the obstruction in the bronchial tube, mucus membrane and other respiratory tissues and organs. The common causes of this obstruction is irritants like pollen, dust, chemicals, strong odors and viruses

Irritants are naturally fought by the body but once the immune defense slow down, irritants can just easily invade the body causing asthma bronchitis.

The respiratory organs are protected by mucus produced by the bronchial tube. The bronchial tubes, soft tissues and mucous membrane of the respiratory system are covered by cilia, a hair like structures that stops the irritants from entering the lungs.

If you are exposed to irritants for a long period it will cause some damage to the cilia and mucus covering thus weakening the respiratory system’s defenses. Viruses and airborne particles are able to enter the organs easily which result to swelling. In an attempt to counter the irritants, the bronchial tube produces more mucus.

What happens next – Breathlessness

Difficulty in breathing occurs and as such immediate medical attention might be needed. Intake of suitable medicines can combat the bacteria and helps to improve the condition. Medicines for inhalation and some steroids can bring about relief. Appropriate medications will lessen the congestion in the airways.

The main cause of asthma bronchitis is not related to bacteria or viruses, it is more to external agents like pollen, dust, temperature changes, air pollution, smoke, etc.

Coughing, breathlessness, wheezing and pain in the chest are the common symptoms of this type of bronchitis.

Generally, it is wise to keep away from your known triggers as possible and keep your treatment medications in hand always.
