Asthma Attack And Lungs
Asthma attack and what happens inside the Lungs.
An asthma attack is generally acute or chronic change in your asthma symptoms that interrupts your normal daily routine and requires either extra prescriptions of medication or some other intervention to improve so that you can breathe normally again. When your asthma worsens, three main primary changes take place in your lungs that make your airways smaller.
1) Increased Mucus - As your airways become irritated and inflamed, the cells produce extra mucus. The thick mucus may clog up the airways of your lungs.
2) Inflammation and Swelling - Similar to your ankle swells from the irritation caused by a twisted ankle, the airways of your lung swell in response to whatever is causing your asthma attack.
3) Muscle Tightening - As the smooth tender muscles in your airways tighten in response to your asthma attack, the airways become smaller then normal.
The narrowing of the airways may happen and bring on symptoms very fast, or it may happen over a longer period of time. The symptoms of the asthma attack itself may range from very mild to very severe.
These symptoms generally are :-
- shortness of breath
- chronic cough
- chest tightness
Asthma attacks may also happen when you have an infection like the common cold or some other kind of viral or bacterial respiratory infection. Similarly, your asthma symptoms may worsen when you breathe in anything that irritates your lungs, such as cigarette smoke, dust or other possible triggers.
It is very essential to know how to take care an asthma attack when it happens.
We shall discuss about how to handle an asthma attack in the following article.
I have been suffering from asthma attack from last year december till today, and i would like to find treatment because i have been under medication but there is little change.
Response: Alice Hoka,
Thanks for your query.
Asthma treatment itself is insufficient, but must manage and control together with the ongoing treatment.
Symptoms must get rid of the triggers – which is the MOST essential so said \”ingredient\” for every asthma treatment eventually successfully.
Analyze your symptoms causing triggers and put an asthma plan for your case under your analysis – bet you in no time you should and will see positive results with your asthma treatment.
